Let's Curb that Irresponsible Democratic Spending

Woo-hoo! Round and round we go!

Edit: Skip ahead to 2:16 if you don't want to watch the whole thing.

PS - I thought we could post inline YouTube clips?

Politics as Sport

I'm already seeing with this blog exactly what has turned me off about American politics for the last decade. It saddens me to no end to see political discourse reduced to rooting for one team against the other. Railing constantly against why "The Other Guy" sucks... Us vs. Them, Black vs. White. It's not that I don't enjoy spirited debate; Anyone who knows me knows that's not true. I guess it's just that what passes for political "discourse" today is ultimately so tiring and unproductive.

I like to think that we're above all this, not only as friends on this page, but as a country. But when I see someone with advanced degrees from respected, accredited institutions explaining how he's not going to refer to people as "niggers" despite his better judgment, I really wonder where we're headed.

When people actually think that Barack Obama is a covert muslim hellbent on converting us all, or that John McCain truly believes "wealthy" is defined as an income of $5 million or more... I just don't know how answer to beliefs like that. Trying to respond to such things is like drinking from a firehose of stupid.

Chuck D once referred to the "dumbassification" of America, on all sides, and I can't help but wonder if he's right. Society, by it's very nature, is supposed to progress... But have we reached the end of evolution?

Let's Curb That Irresponsible Republican Spending

By passing a new stimulus package!

Personally I'm too rich to get a stimulus check, but it makes me feel patriotic to help out my fellow Americans. It doesn't bother me that I worked my ass off all year and paid way more taxes than the people who will be getting the checks. This way is more fair for everyone. I love socialism.

The stimulus package will also help increase our interest payments to China and Japan. Kick ass!

2008 voter turn out = same as 2004

For all that hype voter turn out in 2008 was the same as 2004... funny how that didn't change
Barack outspent McCain 4:1 and campaigned for 2 years and the best he could do was increase Democratic turnout by 2.6%. Frankly that is sad, very sad. That tells me that Obama energized existing democrats and liberals, he got them really pumped up, made them cry in emotion, but failed to attract new voters. Clearly he won some converts, sure some independants voted for him and even some moderate Republicans... but when current President has a 30% approval rating, I don't think this should be surprising, let alone historic.

Hyphenated-America

While I won't be dropping N bombs on this blog, I don't like to be PC. I hate Obama because he's a liberal, not because he's black. He's not even black anyways. He's the least black guy in the history of black guys. He's not even Tiger Woods black.

I'm more of a Jap than Obama is a black. I was actually raised by my Japanese parent. I actually speak Japanese. Does Obama speak Swahili? I doubt it. Am I a Japanese-American? Fuck no. I'm an American. I don't hyphenate my race and nationality. African-American my fuckin ass. Drop the hyphens and just be Americans.

Some people with hyphens are 3rd, 4th, 5th generation Americans. They don't speak a lick of their ancestral language, and neither did their parents. Here's a hyphen for those people: douche-bags.

It sickens me how big of a part race played in this election. Race shouldn't have ANYTHING to do with it. I just hope this election satisfied the "historical" aspect of electing someone who is not white. Would I vote for George Takei because he's Japanese? No way. I would vote for him because he's Sulu.

Takei is American by the way.

RE: Credibility... Ignorance and Hypocrisy

Ignorance and Hypocrisy a la Kojiro

When you assume your mother is surrounded by “people who beat the red drum and thump the holy book” your credibility went from "unknown" to "ignorant goober" .

Your mother may be surrounded by highly intelligent people though she may have difficulty articulating her opinions to you. This is most likely because she doesn’t posses the infinite education and polished elitism so sought after by many liberals. It is also ironically hypocritical to stereotype your mother while admonishing inflammatory quotes by conservatives.

Also, comparing "douchebag liberals" to calling a black person a “nigger” lacks a certain perspective that can only be lost on white people living in Portland. We call that ignorance.

>>I do not want this blog to be the source of more rumors and misinformation.

Ok, but as long as it’s the source of red drum beating, holy warriors hell bent on terminating douchebag liberals in post-Obamalyptic America.

South Park: Hitting the Nail on the Head

A synopsis:
South Park's liberals party in the streets while the conservatives shut themselves into a fallout shelter, appropriately named The Ark. When they awake in the morning, the conservatives open the door of The Ark to find that the world hasn't changed. They emerge slightly ashamed at how they over-reacted. Meanwhile, the liberals wake up with a hangover, and they too find that the world hasn't changed. Rubbing his head and looking for his pants, Randy Marsh is pissed off and slightly ashamed at how he thought things would be so different.

A perfect commentary on how one word, "Change", can inspire half a nation, yet scare the hell out of the rest.
