Obama Awarded Nobel Prize in Physics

Stephen Hawking and Barack Obama have been selected as Nobel Laureates for their outstanding contributions in Physics.

"The real question Americans are asking is, 'What has President Obama actually accomplished in Physics?'" reads a statement from the Republican National Committee.

"It is unfortunate that the president's star power has outshined the scientific accomplishments of thousands who have made real achievements and extraordinary services to the world. The Nobel Prize in Physics is widely regarded as the most prestigious award that a scientist can receive in Physics. One thing is certain -- President Obama won't be receiving any awards from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up rhetoric with concrete action."

Obama said he viewed the decision less as a recognition of his own accomplishments and more as "a call to action." A somewhat ambivalent statement from the White House was made:

"As the President said in his address to the Nobel Committee. He believes that his high school physics accomplishments made in Honolulu warrant such recognition. He has said he is open to other constructive ideas of increasing his Physics knowledge. However, there are no plans at this time to enroll in any college Physics programs."
